In your own best interests, please read the following carefully.
Admissions and Discharges for General Surgery, Day Surgery, Oncology and Endoscopy/Colonoscopy services are processed at the Admissions Desk on the ground floor. All patients for admission should report their arrival to the admissions staff located at "Counter A" situated in the main foyer.
Admission Times - Please note admission times to hospital can vary. Please confirm with your referring doctor who booked your hospital admission for details of the correct time to arrive on the day of your admission. Please also be aware that patients are admitted in order of medical priority and are scheduled according to theatre and doctor bookings. Unfortunately, arrival at hospital earlier than advised by your referring doctor does not guarantee an early admission.Day of Admission Payments. If you have private health cover, please ensure you have discussed your pending hospitalisation with your fund prior to admission. This will ensure you are fully informed and aware of any out of pocket expenses that may be incurred.
It is important to note that Basic (Table or Public Table) Health Insurance does not provide adequate cover for your stay and will incur out of pocket expenses which will need to be paid on admission. Please note that Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital is able to claim directly on your behalf some medical expenses from most health funds.
If you do not have private health insurance you will need to contact our accounts administration area on (07) 3326 3553 prior to attending the hospital to obtain an estimate of expenses. This will provide you with an estimation of costs for your scheduled medical treatment which is based on information received from your doctor. Please note, any estimate of expenses may alter as a result of changes to the treatment received, length of stay and/or item numbers associated with your procedure. You will be required to pay the full 'estimate of expenses' prior to your admission to the hospital.
WorkCover patients require written approval prior to being admitted to this facility. All approval letters must be received by Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital prior to admission. Please ensure that this occurs. If you would like confirmation that this letter has been received, please contact our Pre-Admissions staff at the hospital on 1300 884 974.
What You Need To Bring To Hospital
Please leave all your valuables at home and be sure to bring the following with you on the day of admission to avoid delays in processing:
Payment Of Incidentals, Co-payments, Excesses etc
As a condition to providing treatment Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital will require an imprint of your credit card which will be "swiped" on admission to cover any incidentals or other items not covered by your private health fund. The imprint will be held in a secure and confidential cabinet until your account has been finalised.
On admission, be prepared to pay any co-payments and excesses you may have with your private health fund.
On being discharged, the hospital will debit your credit card for any outstanding amounts which are un-claimable or not paid by you or a private health fund. Some local telephone calls are free but all mobile, STD and long distance calls will require you to purchase a phone card. These are available from admissions for $10 each.
The hospital does not accept personal or business cheques for amounts exceeding $500 in payment of a patient's hospital accounts. We do accept bank cheques.
